Privacy Policy
Science & Tech Voices is a student led publication based in Istanbul, Türkiye. This page explains what happens to information when you visit scitechvoices.com. It is written in plain language on purpose.
The short version
- We count visits. We do not identify visitors.
- We set no advertising cookies and run no advertising.
- We sell nothing, and we share nothing with data brokers.
- The contact form stores nothing. It hands the message to your own mail app.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It records that a page was viewed and some coarse context such as the referring site, the country, and whether the device is a phone or a desktop. It does not set a cookie, does not follow you to other sites, and does not build a profile of you. We look at it to see which articles people actually read.
If you would rather not be counted, choose Do not count my visits in the notice at
the bottom of the screen. That choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under the
key stv-consent and stops the analytics script from loading on later visits.
Clearing your browser data clears the choice too, and the notice will ask again.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web host, their servers process the request your browser makes, including your IP address, in order to send the page back to you. That is a technical necessity rather than a choice we make about you.
The contact form
Our form is deliberately simple. Nothing you type is sent to a server of ours or to a form hosting company. When you press send, the details are assembled into a message and handed to whatever mail app your device uses. Nothing leaves your device until you press send there.
Once your message reaches our inbox at scitechvoices@gmail.com, it is an ordinary email, held by our mail provider. We keep messages for as long as we need them to reply and to keep track of what was agreed, and we delete them when they are no longer useful. We never use an address that arrived this way for anything other than replying.
Video and third party content
Our courses play from video files served from this site, so watching them does not hand your details to a video platform. One course links out to YouTube. If you follow that link, you are on YouTube and Google's own privacy policy applies from that point.
Children
The site is aimed at a general audience including school and university students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, beyond what is described above.
Your rights
Because we hold no account, no profile and no database of visitors, there is usually nothing for us to look up about you. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, write to scitechvoices@gmail.com and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
